Grab your copy of the Oregon Chunky Easy Afghan crochet pattern here. And you know, once you make it, you will be asked: “You made this?!” left and right. It looks just as great layered on the bed as it is hanging off the arm of a cozy arm-chair. This blanket is designed to be simple, classic, and timeless. The combination of those two created a nice textured striping along the afghan, and the yarn color change accentuated it even more. To give the blanket the fluffiness but also the structure and shape, I used a TR triple (treble) crochet stitch as well as HDC Half Double Crochet stitch. I recommend the bulky yarn (6) for this project since this what gives it its chunky feel and fluffy appearance. This is a super bulky yarn and the recommended hook to go with it is a 9mm, but I love using a 15mm hook – to give the blanket its chunky texture.Įven though I made this blanket in two complementing colors, you can totally make it in one solid color, or pick a variegated kind for fun. In this afghan, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick in Oatmeal and Fisherman. I wasn’t sure how it would work with my fave chunky yarn, but after I made a swatch, I knew I had a winner!Įven though treble crochet tends to create a very loose crochet fabric with large holes, with the Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick, it looked perfect! Especially since I’ve been wanting to try working with a TR triple stitch. Of course, we were staying at the hotel, so no fluffy blanket was available, but the idea of one was already brewing in my head. I got myself some books at the Powell’s City of Books and after a long day having fun, all I really wanted is to cozy up on the couch with a fresh book and a fluffy blanket and read. The weather was perfect, crisp, bright and chilly. Really enjoyed that day trip and my fam loved it! We even found a Peruvian restaurant in town!
I wanted to go to Portland, visit the famed book store, try some local food and just soak up those free spirited vibes.
We were up in state of Washington, visiting my nephew and his wife, as well as sightseeing in Seattle, when we decided to take a drive down to Oregon, the state I wanted to visit forever!
I was inspired to design a blanket like that after a trip to Oregon with my husband and kids. Thick and cozy, it’s as squishy as it looks. This throw is perfect for the cold nights of the Pacific Northwest. Please help me welcome Oregon Chunky Easy Crochet Afghan!Ĭan you believe this fluffy chunkiness?!
